To win the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade is a sensational achievement for everyone at Sychem, but none more so than Michael Barnes, our CEO, who built Sychem into the remarkable company it is today.
Here are a few words from our CEO,
“I am incredibly proud of this achievement, the team here at Sychem, and the ethos of our company. Even though we are getting larger, we try to ensure that Sychem remains a friendly and family-run business. We are proud to fly the flag for innovation, design and UK manufacturing and as an exporter of our own products, we have our own in-house training and apprentices who are brought through our engineering programme.
It’s been an emotional journey filled with highs and lows, but luckily, I have an extraordinary lady by my side.
It was an exceptionally proud moment for me when my son Luke joined the business and came into the group, and he is doing so well. The development of my Directors Dan and Colin is absolutely exceptional, and I would say Sychem is in safe hands as it grows.”
Now in its 56th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the country, and Sychem are honoured to have received one.
When asked about what winning a Queen’s Award meant for Sychem, Mick said.
“From the early days on my own to this is quite a big thing, and I don’t often sit back and reflect on it. If I did, I would probably be quite proud.
The achievement of the Queen’s Award will lead to building customers’ trust, and an increase in sales and longevity.
I am proud to have achieved the award, and I am very proud of the team. To get the award is massive; it’s a huge thing for the team. It’ll be interesting to see what the next ten years bring for Sychem.”
